I too am researching JAMES CALHOUN for a friend. There has been little response from this list, but don't give up after so short a time. It takes time to find our elusive ancestors, but it is oh so rewarding when we find a little string to go on. Not much is known about James except that he was born in 1850 or near that time. He was married to AMANDA WILLIAMS, and raised a family in south ALABAMA between PIKE and HOUSTON COUNTIES. Hang in there, something will break sooner or later.
