Hey, we're related! It's hard to find another "Calhoun" who knows more than 2 generations back. I'm from Patricks line as well, and I remember my grandmother telling me about the indian raids and how some relative was taken as a small child and was made a member of the tribe and thats why there are Calhouns that are native-americans. My grandmother was Ruth Calhoun, daughter of Joseph A. Calhoun whose father William was a circuit preacher who founded over 100 churches in W. N.C. My mom is really into this and we would love to hear from you. She has the records going back to one Lord in Scotland who moved to Ireland and his family moved to S.C.. She also has an interesting thing about how Colquhoun originated from French, which would lead me to believe that our ancestor was a french supporter of Queen Mary. Anyway, please email me back and I can email you our family tree. Laura Esposito (I married me an Eye-talian)
I'm not sure that we're related but I'm really interested in looking at your data and in learning about the derivation of the name Colquhoun! I'll compare your information with what I have and let you know if there are any coincidences. I'm crossing my fingers, since I have been unable to make the connection between my Scots-Irish ancestors and their Scottish antecedents. Thanks in advance and yours aye! ----- Original Message ----- From: <laurae@carolina.rr.com> To: <CALHOUN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2001 1:38 PM Subject: [CALHOUN] Haywood County Calhouns > > Hey, we're related!
