Calhoun Queries A new message, "Marriage Alice Calhoun to Henry Hall," was posted by Lonna Jean Conroy on Thu, 17 Feb 2000 It is a response to "Marriage Alice Calhoun to Henry Hall," posted by Jane Norton on Mon, 05 Apr 1999 Surname: HUDSON, CALHOUN, WRAY --- NAME: Lonna Jean Conroy EMAIL: ljconroy@pcif.net DATE: Feb 17 2000 URL: http:// QRYTEXT: Wanted to post this information for those, in addition to Jane Powell and myself, who are researching Alice CALHOUN and Henry HALL. This post gives additional information, from another perspective but should be researched and considered on an independent basis. According to my family records as well as the marriage records of Obion Co., TN and subsequent census records, my g-g-grandfather, Benjamin Waller HUDSON (b 30 Jan 1847 TN) married Alice M. CALHOUN (b 24 May 1850 Troy, Obion Co. TN) on 25 Feb. 1869 in Obion Co., TN. Benjamin, Alice and family appear in the 1870 and 1880 Obion Co. Census records. Alice died in childbirth 29 Nov. 1883 in Obion Co. After much research, the only Alice M. CALHOUN found to have been born in 1850 in Obion Co., TN is the daugher of Samuel S. CALHOUN and his second wife, Elizabeth Jane DICKEY (DICKEY is probably the name of Eliz. J.'s first husband; haven't located her maiden name as yet). To my knowledge, Alice M. is the only child born to Samuel S. CALHOUN and Elizabeth J. DICKEY. Alice M. appears in the 1850 and 1860 Obion Co. Census (Troy, Dist. 6) in the household of Samuel S. and S.S. CALHOUN. It is assumed Elizabeth J. DICKEY Calhoun died prior to 1860 since she does not appear in the 1860 census. The marriage record for Alice CALHOUN and Henry HALL came from LDS Records Film #1007236, Obion Co., TN Marriages 1838-1915 as Jane notes in the previous post. Author of this material is the Obion Co. Clerk. Marriage date is 30 July 1881. Perhaps locating descendants of Henry HALL and this ALICE CALHOUN will solve the mystery. To date, my research in that direction has not been fruitful.
