HUGH CALHOUN born Aug. 23, 1802, who married Nov. 3, 1825 to NANCY McLEOD born April 23, 1802 and died July 18, 1889. They settled in Kaufman Co., TX. Below is the info that I have on this family. Anxious to hear from anyone with information, I need to find his siblings and most especially information regarding his parents, who are believed to be JOHN COLQUHOUN/CALHOUN who married a lady by the name of ANN or Sarah. JOHN COLQUHOUN/CALHOUN b. in ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND. He arrived in America ca 1792 and settled in NC along with Malcolm, Duncan, Laughlin & Archibald Colquhoun. Presumably these were his brothers......no written proof of this. They were members of the Bluff Presbyterian Church near Wade, NC JOHN COLQUHOUN married ANN (or maybe SARAH) They had at least one child, HUGH CALHOUN. Name was changed from Colquhoun to Calhoun soon after their arrival in America and settled in NC. HUGH CALHOUN married NANCY McLEOD married on Nov. 3, 1825. Nancy was born on Apr. 23, 1813 & died on July 3, 1889. Hugh and Nancy had 12 children: 1. John D. (the father of my gr. gr. grandfather, Burrell Jackson Calhoun), 2. Neal, 3. Mary, 4. Elizabeth, 5. HUGH KENDRICK CALHOUN (ALSO LIVED IN AND DIED IN KAUFMAN CO, TX.) 6. Margarite 7. Florrie, 8. Christian, 9. Georgia, 10. Amanda, 11. Archibald, 12. Hannah.
