Hello Valorie, Carla, and List, I have Hugh Calhoun and Nancy McLeod in my records. I have their children, but not much more. There is a penciled in note (in my handwriting) that says Hugh is the son of John, Malcolm's brother. I don't know where I got that information. I am a direct descendant of Malcolm Calhoun who was born on Isle of Skye about 1760. My Malcolm married Christian McCorqudale. In my records, it is stated that they came to the US in 1792 and landed on the coast of Virginia where they lived for the first 18 years. Then they moved to North Carolina and later to Clarke County, Alabama in 1820. Malcolm and Christian are buried in Clarke County. Now it gets confusing. In the 1790 census of Cumberland County, North Carolina there are listed several Calhouns with the right names, Malcolm, Archibald, Duncan, etc. I don't have the list at hand, but I remember that there were several of them. This doesn't fit with my records, but he names are so close. I have a Malcolm Calhoun genealogy which was compiled by my Uncle Jesse T. Calhoun in 1935. He has them arriving in 1792 in Virginia. He doesn't mention any brothers or their parents. The LDS Family History Center has listed a book by Gene Ermert titled Seven Brothers Calhoun: the Calhouns of the Southern States of the United States of America (1790-1865). I haven't seen it, but I plan to. I am suspecting that there are two sets of Calhouns. Ours are from Isle of Skye, but some are Scotch-Irish. I would love to find Malcolm and Christian's parents and siblings and I would appreciate any info that you may have. Frances Montgomery New Orleans
