Mary is right....a "Roll Call" might generate a little interest and facilitate a few "connections" on the List. Haven't posted this in a while: Seeking any information on Elizabeth CALHOUN (EST b. 1790-1800) and her ancestors. Married to Fleming SHIVER. Parents of at least 5 children, including John B, Henry Fleming, Enoch "Nick", Henrietta "Hetty" and Jane. Elizabeth CALHOUN & Fleming SHIVER were married in South Carolina abt 1817 and moved to Georgia by mid 1820s Believe her father was Axium CALHOUN and her grandfather John CALHOUN -- no further info on either of these. Have generations of Elizabeth's descendants to share with anyone making a connection. Leary Cox cox_family@msn.com
MICHAEL, Thank you for posting that information. This is the most info I have received, so come on listers, help us out here. There have to be a lot of CALHOUNS lurking out there. As you have read recently, discouragement is high for the list, so LIST ADMINISTRATOR., maybe you could help us out by A roll call or something, please ? A most wanted? Earliest ancestor? HELP! My Calhouns (and Calhoons) are from Pennsylvania, though I am not sure if we have a connection. I actually have a lot more information on siblings, etc. in a family genealogy book; the problem is that I have lent that book to a Calhoun friend (coincidentally enough). I hope to get it back soon. I too am researching JAMES CALHOUN for a friend. There has been little response from this list, but don't give up after so short a time. It takes time to find our elusive ancestors, but it is oh so rewarding when we find a little string to go on. Not much is known about James except that he was born in 1850 or near that time. He was married to AMANDA WILLIAMS, and raised a family in south ALABAMA between PIKE and HOUSTON COUNTIES. Hang in there, something will break sooner or later. Today's Rootsweb Review had this notice: WORLDCONNECT AND GENCONNECT NOW "CONNECTED." A number of RootsWeb users report a novel combined use of RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project and its GenConnect Surname and County message boards. After uploading their GEDCOMs to the WorldConnect project, these clever users have then posted messages containing an active link to these GEDCOMs on the GenConnect message boards that relate to their surnames and/or counties of interest. The result is that anyone seeing the posts on the GenConnect message boards can then click through directly to the uploaded GEDCOM. Kudos to our users for inventing a wonderful combined use of RootsWeb resources. ------- If you have an existing query or other GenConnect post that you would like to have *edited* to include a link to your WorldConnect gedcom, just drop me a note with the exact URL for both your post, and your gedcom account, and how you want the new URL included. Otherwise, you can just make a new post containing this information. All the best, Valorie GCC for the GenConnect boards

Fellow Researchers, I have just come across a very important essay, at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~vaaugust/cook.htm>, titled INTERNET GENEALOGY - WHAT'S GOOD! WHAT'S NOT! . . . AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?! by Bettie Cummings Cook, CG. If you are a beginning researcher, it is important that you read this article. If you are an experienced researcher, for the sake of good genealogical information on the Internet, it is *crucial* that you read this article. And consider linking to it from your own webpages, if you have them. All the best, Valorie Zimmerman Black Diamond, Washington USA Proud sponsor of Rootsweb Listmom/GCC -- too many to list!
