One of my major projects is that of complete compilation of Lassen County place names, past and present and that of geographical features as well. In addition it includes, old schools, post offices etc. Since I have been slowly working on this for over 20 years, there is no time like the present to complete the same, which is about 75%. So you might be receiving alot of queries and or just plain information on others that might be of interest. For starters, there is the Addington Post Office. It was located in the north end of Dry Valley between Grasshopper Valley and the Madeline Plains. The post office operated intermittenly from 1890 to 1910. Emma Burch served as first postmaster. I was told once that it was named after members of the Addington family of Surprise Valley, yet a complete search of County archives, I can not find reference to any Addington's residing there. But if memory serves me correctly, there was a connection between the Chace family of Adin and that of the Addingtons. Anyone know about this or could enlighten me about the Addingtons, as believe there are a few people out there related to them. Tim
