Maybe you can find a tie between Ardilla Covell Babcock and our Covell/Cook family -- William Albert Cook married Sally Covell 1845 in Bradford Co., PA. The clan came to California about 1869, though a few arrived earlier. William and Sally had a daughter named Ardilla who died young (in 1863), and I can imagine that a sibling or cousin of Sally's might have named a daughter after Ardilla. Among Sally's brothers were James (known to have lived around Hat Creek in the 1880s) and Parvin. Parents of Sally, James, Parvin, and others were James Covell (b. 1804 in New York) and Sally Dewey (b. 1800 in Vermont). I hope this helps...seems more than coincidence that a Covell would be given the name Ardilla.
