Surnames: Lampe, Haverstock, King Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CW.2ADI/111.1 Message Board Post: Hi: Could the Lassen Lampe be a descendant of the San Francisco Lampes who came to California around 1860? This family of Lampes were from Nova Scotia and were of German origin. The Lampes are listed in the Foreign-Born voter's Registration of California in 1872. Theodore Charles and Robert Lampe were my great grandfather's, Robert (Haverstock) King's cousins. Robert Lampe had no children and Charles Lampe settled in San Francisco, married and had children. Some of the family were in Louisiana. Somewhere there might be more information on the origin of this family. Various spellings of the name---Lamp, Lampe and Lampie.

    3. The obituary index for the Lassen Advocate for 1923 is online. I am working on the Lassen Mail for 1923. They are quite interesting to compare, as an obituary, especially a former resident, will appear in paper, and not the other. All the Lassen Mail obits for the 1930s are available on the Lassen Co. Gen Web page. www.cagenweb.com/tp/lassen/ Tim
