It was a different address than is 1920: 317 Cedar St., SE. Jacob was still in the store business as a manager/buyer of a "dry goods store". So, I think he was the owner. The following is listed on the census (bevolkingsregister): -VanderMeulen, Jacob, owns home, value of $5,500; age 45, married 19 years -Winefred, wife, age 45 -Andrew, son, age 22, truck driver -Margaret, daughter, 23, assembler, carpet ? -Theresa, daughter, 17, assembler, carpet ? -Sanford, son, 15, in school -Jacob, son, 13, in school -Jacob van der Meulen died 23 March 1961 in Grand Rapids, MI. -Wijke van der Meulen-Steensma died 16 December 1954 in Thomasville, Georgia in a car accident. She and Jacob were driving to Fort Myers, Florida to visit their daughter for Christmas when their car was struck by a truck. Jacob was injured but not seriously. There are still plenty of VanderMeulen families in the Grand Rapids area.
