He was 76. Mr. Wooten was born Jan. 18, 1929 in Mesa, Ariz. to Robert Wooten and the former Celeste Elkins. He grew up in the Delano area and graduated from Delano High School in 1947. He was band captain at Delano High School in his junior and senior years. He played several different horns and was asked to play on local church radio programs and in church. He competed in the West Coast Relays. He loved baseball and was very proud of his cousin George who was a professional ballplayer. He left the Delano-Bakersfield area in 1957 and moved to Orange County and other points south. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Jane and husband Dick Ply of Inyokern, Sandra Register of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Donna Stewart of Sherwood, Ark., son Erwin Wooten Jr. of Arlington, Texas, sister Helen and husband Bob Stallings of Apple Valley, a cousins who was like a brother George Culvert of Bakersfield, grandchildren Scherrie and husband Wayne Coffland of Carson City, Nev., Travis Allison and Julie Ply of Big Pine, Holly Ply of Ridgecrest, David and wife Pam Downing Jr. of Pullayup, Wash., Glendie and husband Jared Patrick of Apache Junction, Ariz., April Downing of Gilbert, Ariz., Jamie and Erwin (Shannon) Stewart of Sherwood, Ariz., great-grandchildren Megan Marie, Robert and Anthony of Carson City, Nev., Caleb, Jacob, Lucas and Rachel of Apache Junction, Ariz., Taylor and Mackenzie of Big Pine, Dustin and Caitlyn of Gilbert, Ariz., Madison, Gabriel, Brandon and Baleigh of Ridgecrest, Lane of Pullayup, Wash., Tristan, Gage, Madison and Joshua of Sherwood, Ark,. Meg! an Nicole and aunts Thelma Lorillard of Mesa, Ariz., and Pauline Phelps of Bakersfield, uncles Sam and wife Wilda Elkins of Bakersfield, and Jimmy and wife Esther, Elkins of California.
