He was 66. A funeral service will be held Saturday April 30 at 11 am at Holland & Lyons Chapel. The American Legion Post 684 will be officiating. Military rites will be given by the US Navy Honor Guard, China Lake. Private burial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery. Mr. New was born to Ruth and Jesse New July 11, 1938 in South Carolina. He graduated from Mission Bay High School where he was the coach and manager of the football team. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1956. He had a very distinguished career in aviation ordnance, retiring with the rank of commander in 1991. Mr. New was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Paula.
