Ralph L. Ralph of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, will officiate, with interment to follow in the Lake Side Section of Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Kemble was a native of Colorado, and had resided in California for the past 60 years, 32 years in Kern County. Until his retirement he was engaged in the manufacturing of irrigation pumps for 35 years, a business that he started in his back yard, and later an incorporated company was formed under the name of Kemble and Son Pump Co. He was instrumental in developing underground water supply for irrigation in the Edison area. During World War I he served with the U.S. Navy in submarine service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 26. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Esther Kemble of the home add! ress; two sons, Neal Louis Kemble of Arvin, and William Edward Kemble of Bakersfield; a daughter, Louann Esther Graham of Bakesfield; a brother, Don H. Kemble of Los Angeles; two sisters, Josephine Teel of Santa Ana, and Helen Janetsky of Sedona, Arizona; seven grand daughters and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers will include Harley Barling, Harry Binns, Jake Ratzlaff, Alvin Kirschenmann, John Swett and Earl Roscamp. The family has suggested that donations be made to the Cancer Fund. Kemble Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel at Greenlawn Mortuary Friday at 10 a.m. for Louis Schwartz Kemble, 68, 251 North Elm St., Arroyo Grande, who died in a Bakersfield hospital Aug. 20. Mr. Kemble was born Dec. 12, 1893 in Colorado. He came to Los Aneles in 1908 and was employed as a plumber. During World War I he was in the U.S. Navy submarine service. In 1919 he married Esther Neal. Mr. Kemble began his deep will turbine pump activity in the early 1920's in the Antelope Valley area and continued there until his transfer to Bakersfield in 1930. He was instrumental in developing underground water supply for irrigation of the Edison district. During the fist 20 years in dealing with pumps Mr. Kemble had represented various pump manufacturers and started his own pump company in the back yard of his residence in Bakersfield in 1941. He was assisted in the business by his wife and was joined by his sons, Neal and Bill, and his daughter Louann, at the end of World War II. The company was incorporated in 1949, with a new building erected on 34th Street, machinery installed, patterns made, and began business as the first complete manufacturer of deep well turb! ine pumps in Kern County. Mr. Kemble retired at the end of 1959, and remained semi-active during 1960, and then became fully retired and moved his residence to Arroyo Grande. Other survivors are: two sisters, Josephine Teel of Santa Ana and Helen Janetzky of Sedona, Ariz.; brother, Don H. Kemble of Los Angeles; seven granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Ralph L.
