She was 56. A memorial service will be held Saturdy May 7 at 1 pm in Modesto. Ms. Johnson was born May 18, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She grew up in Ridgecrest/China Lake. She was a member of Job's Daughters and Ridgecrest Hospital's Candy Stripers, which was the beginning of her interest in nursing. She received her RN and continued studies to graduate with a Master's degree. She moved to Modesto in 1974 where she worked at Doctors Medical Center at the Modesto City Hospital until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of the American Nursing Association. She loved to camp and fish in the High Sierras and carve wood. She loved her pets, a parrot, two cats and her beloved dog Summer who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Gordon "Johnny" Johnson and Lorraine J. Johnson. She became the matriarch of the family, frequently having gatherings at her home. After being overcome by multiple sclerosis she continued to be an independent and strong person, as she had been in her good health. Her family says this about her: "Our sister suffered through nine years of pain and paralysis. She accepted her burden with great dignity. She accepted Jesus Christ our Lord and is now in the Kingdom of God." Donations in her memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the charity of your choice. She is survived by three brothers Harvey and wife Jerilyn Johnson of Ridgecrest, Dale and wife Betsy Johnson of Mt. Mesa, Rocky and wife Doree Johnson of Albany, Ore., sister Kaye Jean Johnson of Modesto, best friends Becky and Phil Schmidt of Modesto and Judy Amaral of Modesto, nephews Clinton Johnson of Ridgecrest, Kevin and wife Gwen Johnson of Jamestown, Kurtis Johnson of San Jose, Thomas Johnson of Albany, Ore., nieces Shannan Santillano ofModesto, Erica and husband Sean Blankenship of North Carolina, Linda and husband Aaron Burton of Ridgecrest, Tiria Johnson of Washington, great nephews Robert, Chase and Kevin Johnson of Jameston, A. J. and Kurtis Burton of Ridgecrest, Nicholas and Logan Johnson of Albany, Ore., great nieces Amber and Lauren Johnson of Jamestown, Tori and Sydney Santillano of Stockton, Kaylea, Miranda and Sierra Johnson of Ridgecrest.
