DeShazo, 69, passed away at Sawtelle Hospital on Jan. 9, after suffering a stroke and heart attack nine days earlier in his Lancaster home. He was born in Harrison, Ark., on April 28, 1888, but came west many years ago. He and his wife were married 37 years and originally came to Mojave in 1916. They stayed here for 25 years and were active in mining the majority of this period. Moving from Mojave in 1933, to a home in Los Angeles, the DeShazos were regular weekend visitors to the desert and land owners as well, owning. 1500 acres located 5 miles east and 3 miles south of Hwy 466. They had only recently sold their home in Lancaster and purchased a new one at 659 W. Ave. Lancaster. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 23, 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
