Wilson, 86, of Shafter who passed away Feb. 24. Rev. Vernon Pollema will officiate. Harlin was born in Missouri and came to Kern County with his parents in 1917. He attended Rio Bravo and Rosedale Schools, and graduated from Bakersfield high School in 1928. At Bakersfield College he met his future wife, Elma Handel. They were married March 8, 1936 and enjoyed almost 61 joyous years together. Harlin was a life long farmer and was still farming with his son Stanley and grandchildren in a partnership called Handel & Wilson Farms. Over the years he has been an active member of the Kern County Farm Bureau and the Kern County Potato Growers Assn. and served on the Board of the Shafter Wasco Ginning Co. He held 48 years of perfect attendance in the Shafter Kiwanis club and was an active member of the Shafter AARP and the Shafter Historical Society. Harlin loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and always strove to live for Him. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church for 60 years and served many years as Sunday School Superintendent, deacon, and elder. He was the Fellowship Hall building committee chairman and also a director of the Reformed churches Summer Camp. He served on the Board of the Westminster Theological Seminary and was a member of the Gideons. He leaves behind his loving wife Elma, son Gary and daughter-in-law Pat Wilson, son Stanley and daughter-in-law Nancy Wilson, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sister Irene and husband Steve Furman, sister Francis and husband Milo Hall, brother Calvin Wilson, sister-in-law Jean Jackson, many nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Ebenezer Reformed Church or to the Westminster Theological Seminary, 1725 Bear Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027 Sharon Kern Co.
