Mr. Minto Farrow, one of the original owners of the land at what is now Muroc passed away Sunday evening at his place of residence in Mojave. Mr. Farrow had been in the area since 1900. It was about 1920 that Mr. Farrow and a Mr. Corum, both owned land in the Muroc area. They decided that the population there warranted a post office. Corum was the name selected for the town. However, communication was received from the postal authorities that there was already a Corum, California. The two men were stymied for a while, then the late Mr. Farrow suggested that they spell CORUM backwards, hence MUROC was born. Arrangements for Mr. Farrow's services are under the direction of a funeral home in the Los Angeles area.
