She was 73. "Her sorrows have gone down with the setting sun. Her hopes are now in hier Lord's arms." Visitation was held Monday, April 18 at Southtown Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa. Cremation was to follow. Ms. Garrett was born Nov. 20, 1931 in Ferndale, Ark. She was an avid bingo player. She was preceded in death by her son John Garrett Jr. and two sisters Barbara Nichols and Ruby Kerr. She is survived by her daughters Carol Jones of West Covina and Linda Jones of Ridgecrest, son Michael Garrett of Lakeside, five grandchildren Dawn Petrowski of Ridgecrest, Amanda Garrett and Austin Garrett of Lakeside, Shon Garrett and Jeffrey Garrett of Arizona, one great-granddaughter Shelby Petrowski of Ridgecrest, sisters Betty Koon of Ferndale, Ark., and Mary Modlin of Little Rock, Ark, blessed friends John and Tammy Hayner of Des Moines, Iowa.
