She was 94. A rosary will be said Thursday April 28 at 6 pm at Holland & Lyons Chapel. Visitation will follow until 8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Friday April 29 at 10 am at St. Ann Church. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park. Mrs. Hosmer was born in New Brunswick, Canada in 1910. She contracted a form of polio during her infancy which left her with a deformed hip and a limp. At the age of 15 she and some member of her family moved to Lynn, Mass. She went to work in a box factory for about a year then took a job in a shoe factory in Lynn, which lasted for 28 years. She then decided to attend a secretarial course and upon graduating worked at an auto parts store for two years. She then took a civil service exam. They had a job posted for the China Lake Naval Research Station in California. She traveled there was hired and lived in a dormitory on the base. Her future husband Philip Hosmer also worked and lived on the base. They were married in 1963 and continued to live on the base. When they both retired they purchased a home in Ridgecrest, a city next to the Naval Station. Their favorite pastime ws taking trips to Las Vegas, Nev. After Phil passed awy she decided to travel more extensively visiting such places as Hawaii, Australia and Alaska. In the past couple of years, her legs gave her so much trouble that she was admitted to an assisted living facilty in Bakersfield.
