His partner of nine years, Sandra Pratt, was at his bedside. He was 62. A memorial service was held at the home of his sister and family, Smee and Bob Plant, March 26 in Pollock Pines. Mr. Mamula was born April 30, 1942 in Los Angeles. He spent most of his childhood in Ridgecrest. It was there he became a Christian which had significant influence on him for the rest of his life. He, his wife Laurie and son moved to Eugene, Ore. and their two other children were born there. He spent most of his adult life as a house painter and lived the last 13 years in Pollock Pines. His family says this about him: "Everyone who knew or met Mike enjoyed a warm, friendly, pleasant person. He had a genuine concern for people and sense of humor that made everyone in his company feel comfortable. He had a wide variety of interests such as reading, gold panning, playing pool, the arts and always a good debate, which he mischievously knew just how to instigate." He will be missed terribly by his parents Michael and Helen Mamula of Camarillo, brother David Mamula of Monument, Colo., sisters Smilja "Smee" Plank of Pollock Pines and Linda Zurn of Ridgecrest, children Michael, Jacob and Miranda, grandchildren Zoe and Ashley, partner Sandra Pratt and a myriad of friends.
