She was 67. A memorial service will be held Saturday May 14 at 2 pm at Holland & Lyons Chapel. Inurnment will be at Desert Memorial Park. Ms. O'Day was born Oct. 20, 1937 in Manhattan Island, N.Y. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She was a rare stay-at-home mom until her children finished school and started out on their own. She volunteered for everything - secretary work for church, Scouts, PTA, classes for handicapped children, babysitting and cheering up anyone in need. Most will remember her as the funny girl who loved to make people laugh. Her children remember her for her compassion towards others, always wanting to help someone in need. Her first realy paying job was for Holland & Lyons Mortuary. She loved her work she loved being there for others in their time of need. She also worked for the Chamber of Commerce and Drug and Alcohol Abuse programs. She always had an ambition to be a writer and attended creative writing classes in college. She has written some lovely pieces. Her hobbies were writing stories and shopping - even if she didn't buy anything she had to look at everything. She loved anything that sparkled or had brilliant color. She loved porcelain dolls. She constantly talked about her children and was very proud of her family and her heritage. Her family says: "Nothing can ever take the place of a beautiful mother, but she is only gone from sight. She lives forever in our hearts and left us with beautiful memories. Besides, she kept saying 'little Hungarian is calling me hoime.' Now how can you argue with that? We love you mom, thanks for loving us. "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though he dies and anyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Love the God of everlasting life. John 11:25-28." She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Madarasz, dear friend H. K. Holland, nephew Ronnie O'Day, father William H. O'Day and mother Jane O'Day Ustick. She is survived by her daughters Jan Jeanjaquet and Lisa Jeanjaquet, sons-in-law Kenny Vick and Larry Smith all of Beaumont, Texas, sons Jay Jeanjaquet and Tony Jeanjaquet and Lisa of Shreveport, La., step-son Jimmy Madarasz and wife Betha of Ridgecrest, step-father Alex "Shorty" Ustick of Ridgecrest, brothers Mike O'Day and wife Betty of Las Vegas, Nev., and Bill O'Day and wife Rhonda of Ridgecrest, sister-in-law Barbara O'Day of Ridgecrest, one nephew, three nieces, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
