She was 95. Interment will be Tuesday April 19 at 11 am at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Bakersfield. Mrs. Lewis was born May 3, 1909 in Los Angeles. She and her first husband James C. Temple Sr. moved to China Lake in 1945. He was a captain in the base fire department and later a custodian at Burroughs High School. She worked for the Supply Department and the Contracts Division of the Public Works Department. After her husband Jim passed away in 1971 she continued working on the base until she married Tennyson Lewis. They retired to Bodfish in 1973. Following his death in 1998 she moved to Loma Linda and spent the last four years at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Air Force Village West in Riverside. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 153 E. Whittier Blvd., Suite A, La Habra CA 90631. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her children James C. Temple Jr. of Ridgecrest, John and wife MaryAnn Temple of Palm Desert, Doris and husband Jim Ferguson of Riverside, step-daughter Peggy and husband Ed Kipp of Oregon, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
