Sylvester of Bakersfield, a coast artillery officer, who was killed in action at Pearl Harbor, has been honored by the naming of the U. S. Mine Planter Lieutenant Sylvester. The coast artillery officer was a son of Mrs. Leslie Anderson, 3015 Park Way, Bakersfield. He was attached to an anti aircraft artillery unit when he was killed by a bomb sometime between 7:57 and 8:06 A.M. December 7th.
