A. Anderson, 3015 Park Way, to give his life in the service of his country, is Second Lieutenant Robert Neill Sylvester, 25, who has been reported killed in action in the South Pacific area. His brother, Lieutenant William Sylvester, was killed December 7, 1941, at Hickam Field, Honolulu, where he was stationed with a coast artillery anti aircraft unit. Robert Sylvester was a P38 pilot. He attended the Bakersfield High School and Junior College. He joined the army air corps in January, 1942. Previously he was a carpenter foreman on a government project. He received his flight training at Santa Ana, the Rankin Aeronautical Academy and Luke Field, Phoenix, Ariz. On June 16th Sylvester shot down his first Zero. He was reported missing a few days later.
