O. (Johnnie) Oxford, 318 Buchanan Street, was killed in action in Germany December 13th. Mr. and Mrs. Oxford received a letter from him only Tuesday, in which he said he was "in Germany as far as any Yank." Oxford had been overseas since October, 1944. He would have been 21 years old next April. He was graduated from the Taft Union High School, where he played football in 1941, and enlisted in the army March 20, 1942, while attending the Santa Barbara State College. His paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Oxford of Taft, and his maternal grandmother is Mrs. Dorothy Vorhees, formerly of Maricopa but now of South Gate.
