He was 88. Mr. Licwinko was born Nov. 3, 1916 in Chicago. He graduated in 1941 from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering. He was an officer in the Navy during World War II and remained in the reserves for another 20 years. After the war ended he became an employee of the Department of the Navy and worked as an engineer and manager for his entire career thereafter. He worked at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake from 1961 through 1974 then retired to the San Diego area where he lived the last 30 years. While living in China Lake Mr. Licwinko was an active golfer and served a year as president of the Burroughs High School PTA. He is survived by his children Mary Lou Licwinko of Alameda, Amy Prentiss of Oakland and John Licwinko of Holmdel, NJ, sister Irene Licwinko of Chicago and brother Jack Lapsys of La Mesa. Grandchildren surviving him are Lauren Prentiss of Oakland, Ryan Licwinko of New York and Susan Licwindo of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian who died in 1994.
