MURBACH 1921-2005 Warren J. Murbach passed away at his residence after a brief battle with cancer on March 20, 2005. Born in Winona, Minn. on Aug. 18, 1921 Mr. Murbach attained a bachelors of science degree in organic chemistry before enlisting in the Navy in 1943. He served aboard the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Champlain during World War II participating in the sinking of an attacking enemy submarine somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and the downing of an enemy fighter plane during the invasion of Southern France. After three years of mlitary service he met his future wife Edna when he returned to college in s. (sic) Louis to obtain his masters of science degree in chemistry. Upon graduation he took a job as a civilian chemist at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake where he worked for 28 eyars before retiring in 1977. He then lived in Sun city for 28 years and enjoyed coin shooting with his metal detector, big band music and dancing. He is survived by his daughter Karen A. Miller, her husband Steven and three grandchildren Kelly, Daniel and Travis all of San Luis Obispo. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna and daughter Diana J. Lemon. Private inurnment and arrangements were made by Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
