Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JW.2ADE/7774 Message Board Post: William Rose Passes Away In Hospital William Frederick Rose, age 75, passed away September 8, in the Mojave Hospital at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Rose had been a resident of Mojave for the past 20 years and was a prospector before the Queen mine opened. After the mine started production, he worked for the Golden Gueen mine as a powderman. During his early days here on the desert, the family lived near the Queen until Mr. Rose built the residence at 105 M St. where he lived until his death. He ran for Constable in 1948 but was defeated. When the Mojave Marine Base opened during World War II, he worked there until it closed. He then obtained a job with John Brewer in Lancaster as a plumber until retiring about three yrs. ago He was a member of BPOE Lodge of Trinity, Colorado, joining in 1911. Mr. Rose was also a charter member of the Lancaster Elks Lodge No. 1625, and was instrumental in its formation. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae D. Rose and a daughter, Miss Jacqueline Rose of Mojave. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10:00 a.m. in the Elks Lodge in Lancaster under direction of O'Donnell Funeral Home. Officiant will be B P O E Chaplain Dr. Homer Rowell Interment will be in the Pasadena Mauseleum and Columbarium in Altadena, Calif.
