SCHOEN Former Ridgecrest resident Ralph R. Schoen passed away at his home in Blue Island, Ill on Wednesday March 9, 2005. He was 63. Mr. Schoen served in the Navy and retired after 20 years at the Naval Air Warfare Station, China Lake on Dec. 31, 1984. He was active in the Lloyd E. Frost Ship 4084 Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as ship's captain and also as district 10 commander. Mr. Schoen was also a memvber of John M. Armitage American Legion Post 684. He is survived by his duaghter Audra Schoen of San bernardino, son stacy Schoen and grandson Jonathan Schoen of Running Springs, granddaughter Haley Schoen of Mission Viejo and cousin Marsha Sawchuck of Blue Island, Ill. Mr. Schoen was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Jean and Bill Vandenberg, sister Amber Schoen and aunt and uncle Kay and Walter Sawchuck. Military rites were presented at the graveside by the local VFW members and the flag was presented to his daughter. Burial was at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Joliet, Ill. VFW members presents graveside military rites, including presentation of the flag to his daughter. Mr. Schoen was employed for 20 eyars at China Lake until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1984. A US Navy veteran he was active in Lloyd E. Frost Ship 4084 of Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as ship captain and District 10 commander. He was also a member of American Legion Post 684.
