He was 74. Born Jan. 4, 1918 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Mr. Torres worked as an electronics technician for the China Lake Naval Weapons Center before retiring in 1984. He served in World War I (sic) and in the Korean conflict, he flew 66 combat missions. He retired from the Air Force as a major in 1965. Mr. Torres moved from Riverside and had lived in Ridgecrest for 21 years. Mr. Torres is survived by his wife Betty Torres of Ridgecrest, son and daughter-in-law Rex and Ruth Torres of Bothell, Wash., daughters and sons-in-law Regina and Jim Forbis of Ridgecrest, Renee and Jeff Sorenson of Ridgecrest and Rhonda and John Makowski of Ridgecrest, brothers Ismael Torres of Puerto Rico and Pedro Torres of New York, sisters Mercedes Santiago of Puerto Rico, Monserrate Colon of Pennsylvania and aurea Saez of Puerto Rico and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9 am Tuesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Monsignor Kevin Cleary of St. Ann's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial is at 2 pm Tuesday at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. Full military rites at the graveside will be offered by the March Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm Monday at Holland & Lyons Chapel.
