The victim was Mr. Don Carlos Robertson, who was thought to have been coming back from Bakersfield at the time of the wreck. He was supposed to have been at work in the Mag room at the PCB mines that morning. No one knows the cause of the wreck but the highway patrolman said his car looked like it had turned end over end twice on the highway and twice off the road when it headed for the desert. The rear left tire was blown out and the top of the car was smashed flat. Don was lying eighty feet away from the car badly mangled so that is was difficult to identify him. Don was to have started a two weeks vacation on last Monday. Reason for the tragedy was thought to have been one of two things, either he went to sleep at the wheel or the tire blew out. He had just taken his car out of the fender and body shop a few days before. Don leaves as survivors, his widow, Mrs Barbara Robertson and two sons Del Ray and Tom Michael, father and step mother Mr. and Mrs. Sutter Robertson, and four sisters and three brothers. He was born November 19, 1929 at Clarksville Arkansas and grew up around Stadium, Oklahoma. His family came to California for the second time in 1946 and Don got a job at the PCB Co. in July of that year. Except for time out for military service, he worked continuously until his death. He entered the Army in November of 1950 and took his basic training at Camp Roberts. Don was sent to Korea in May 1951 and was twice wounded in battle. He was discharged in July 1952 as a Sergeant. The funeral was held Tuesday, August 18, at the Boron Baptist Community Church under the direction of O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave. We wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Robertson family. Transcriber's note :PCB is Pacific Coast Borax Co., Boron, Cal.
