He was 74. A memorial service will be held Friday May 13 at 2 pm at Holland & Lyons Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Mark Q. Rowland of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Mr. Lakey was born Sept. 12, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio. He made his career in the US Air Force as a radio mechanic from 1951 to 1973. While in the service he traveled all over the world. He met his wife of 47 years Marie in Luxembourg while he was stationed in Germany. His family says this about him: "He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, gardening and landscaping. He liked to have coffee and spend time with his friends. He was a good husband, father and provider for his family." Mr. Lakey was preceded in death by his brother Ken Lakey. He is survived by his wife Marie Lakey of Ridgecrest, daughter Cheryl Hultgren of Ridgecrest, daughter Dianna Tate of Kokomo, Ind., sister Sandy Affatato of Wilmington, N.C., granddaughters Alisha Granato and Angela Granato of Ridgecrest, grandsons Jamnis Tate and Justin Tate of Kokomo, Ind., and great-grandchild Jacien Tate of Kokomo, Ind. A resident of Ridgecrest since 1980 he was a retired radio mechanic. He retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service. While he was in the service he traveled all over the world. He met Marie, who became his wife of 47 years, in Luxembourg while he was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, gardening and landscaping. He liked to have coffee and spend time with friends. He was a good husband, father and provider for his family. He is survived by his wife Marie Lakey of Ridgecrest, his daughter Cheryl Hultgren of Ridgecrest, his daughter Diann Tate of Kokomo, Ind., his siter Sandy Affatato of Willmington, N.C., his granddaughters Alisha and Angela Granato of Ridgecrest, his grandsons Jamnis and Justin Tate of Kokomo, Ind. and his great-grandchild Jaelen Tate of Kokomo, Ind. Precededing in death was his brother Ken Lakey. Interment was at Desert Memorial Park. Private cremation and arrangements were provided by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
