Norma was born on Jan. 14, 1931 in Long Beach to Morton and Jenny Johanson. In February of 1948, Norma married James Raleigh Mettler. They moved to Mojave where she lived for 56 years. Norma worked for 40 years for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She loved camping at Lake Tahoe and fishing at Crowley Lake. Norma’s life revolved around her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the small-town atmosphere of Mojave, never wanting to live anywhere else. Norma is survived by her daughter, Susan Thompson of Mojave; son, James Mettler of Quartz Hill; grandchildren, Bonnie Sue, Dale, Bonnie and Kelly; and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Colton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Mettler, in 2002. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
