I am Jo Ann Harris (Hamilton, Fischer) and I was a fostor child of Dorthy Helen Bertrand Albitre and her then husband Remjio Obispo (Remick O. or R. O.) Albitre. This was in the mid 40s and early 50s. There were over 27 of us as fostor children in their home. And a wonderful home it was, the only NORMAL ONE I was priviledged to be in, as my own was a bad memory, best forgotten. I was in Hawaii when the reunion of the "still living fostor children" was held at Dorthy's home in Woody and 27 of her other children attended. Off an on I would come back to Woody and stop by to see her and sometimes her daughter Nancy. Then in 1991, my terrible accident, I was confined to home but I called her from Missouri where I live, periodically. I was living in Bakersfield when RO died, then in Missouri when Dan died, and still in Missouri when Dorthy died, and just this last year Lugar (Remick Ernest Albitre) died. All of us fostor children never forgot her or RO or their children. I started a web site in their memory, it is on Rootsweb.com and under "Albitre". I have RO's family traced back to 1722 and well documented due to the California Mission records. But Dorthy's side is really difficult. Although the historical society has been very helpful......shamefully I have guessed at much of her side.....and I need someone to check what I have and correct it so that it is right. after all this is in their memory and for their children, grand children etc................it is my small way of saying THANK YOU: Dorthy, RO, Lugar (Remick Ernest), Nina (Dortha Mae) and Nancy for being a family to so many unwanted children like me. I have a program that I can update the site daily and often I do (but it takes a week for the updates to come out on Rootsweb.).
