He was 78. Open viewing will be held at Sierra Mortuary in Lake Isabella, 6416 Lake Isabella Blvd. on Thursday May 26 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Grace Chapel, 12312 Mt. Mesa Road on Friday May 27 at 11 am. Graveside services will be held at Desert Memorial Park, 801 S. County Line Road in Ridgecrest at 3 pm. The family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Pearl was born on Jan. 13, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Thaddeus Monroe Pearl and May Evelyn Pearl. He engered the Navy in 1942 where he served as a Motor Machinist Mate. Upon leaving the military he continued his service for the Navy as a Physical Science Technician at the Naval Ordnance Test Station, China Lake. Having made his home in Ridgecrest, he retired from the Naval Weapons Center in 1982 after 36 1/2 years. In 1993 Duane and his wife Raona relocated to Mt. Mesa where they currently reside. He was a spiritual man who loved the Lord. He was very family oriented and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the Greenhorn Mountains, fishing, woodcutting and playing horseshoes. His family says this about him: "He loved life and was well liked by everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends." He is survived by his wife of 46 years Raona Pearl, sons Donald Pearl and wife Mary of Aptos, Robert Pearl and wife Eileen of Ridgecrest, Ron Pearl and wife Polly of Ridgecrest, daughter Karen Mitchell and husband Larry of California City, sister Ione Paul and nephew Jim Paul of Slidell, La., grandchildren Leonard Pearl, John Pearl, Devyn Pearl, Corrine Pearl and Cabby Beach all of Ridgecrest, grandson Brian Pearl of Mississippi and granddaughters Valerie Mitchell, Brandi Mitchell and Amber Mitchell all of California City, Anna Armes of Kernville, Madeline Beach of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chris Mitchell of San Diego. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Services were entrusted to Sierra Mortuary and Funeral Home, Lake Isabella. Media information provided by the family.
