He was 83. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 28 at 1 pm at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Stephen Brandt will officiate. Mr. Maxwell was born April 18, 1922 in Bremerton, Wash. He served during World War II with the US Navy and moved to Ridgecrest in 1948 where he became a sheet metal worker for the Naval Air Weapons Station. He retired as Chief Quarterman with the Public Works Department. Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Ridgecrest Elks and the Ridgecrest Lions Club. He was president of the sheet metal workers' bowling league and enjoyed RVing with the Elks RV Club. He was a charger member and active with Grace Lutheran Church. The family requests contributions in his memory be made to Grace Luteran Church, 502 N. Norma St., Ridgecrest CA 93555. He is survived by his wife Mary Alice "Pattie" Clarice Maxwell of Ridgecrest, sons Floyd L. Maxwell Jr. of Anza, Garry Lee Maxwell and Darrell Maxwell of Ridgecrest, brother Charlie Maxwel of Grants Pass, Ore., seven grandchildren and seven great-granchildren.
