He was 94. Family visitation will be Thursday June 23 from 4 to 8 pm at Holland & Lyons Chapel. A homegoing celebration will be held Friday June 24 at 11 at New Beginnings Baptist Fellowship, 1465 E. Bowman Road. The Rev. Adolphus Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park. Mr. Logan was born Feb. 4, 1911 in Fayette, Miss., the son of Archie and Maggie Logan. He was married to Mary Johnson Logan and to that union one daughter was born, Onzell Logan. After Mary's death he later married Mattie Logan who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother Sidney Logan Sr., sisters Francis Logan and Rosa Lee Logan Hammer and a nephew John Rucker. Mr. Logan moved to Ridgecrest on Mar. 11, 1947 and began working at China Lake the same day. He was a plumber by trade, was very industrious and his work was exemplary. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He retired Sept. 16, 1976 after 33 years, seven months and 28 days as a federal service employee. He spent more than 29 of those years at China Lake. He was a former member of Union Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served as church treasurer. In 1987 he became a member of New Beginnings Baptist Fellowship. He served as an ordained deacon and church treasurer at New Beginnings. In 1991 he married Tsighe Agade who was by his side until his death. He was always willing to do whatever he could to help his fellow man. He was an active member of the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and served as treasurer for many years. He also served as treasurer and executive board member for the High Desert Baptist Association. His family says this about him: "On the morning of June 18, at the age of 94, the angel of silence came into the home of Mankin Logan. His soul winged its flight from the world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest. When all was over, a great voice from the skies welcomed him as husband, father, uncle, and friend and the voice said, 'Servantof God, well done.'" He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Tsighe Logan of Ridgecrest, daughter and son-in-law Evangelist Onzell and Rev. Kenneth Stevenson, niece Miriam Smith of Hot Springs, Ark., Tell Rucker of Torrance, nephews Sidney Logan Jr. of Los Angeles and Roy Logan of New Orleans, La., great-nephew Sidney Theron Logan of Los Angeles, sister-in-law Dianne D. Logan of Los Angeles, grandchildren Sarah Francis Williams of Chicago, Ill., Kenneth Stevenson Jr. of Chicago, Ill, Patrick Stevenson of Atlanta, Ga., great-grandchildren D'Jaton Williams, Erica Turner, Kenneth Stevenson III, Aaron Stevenson, all from Chicago, Ill., and great-great-granddaughter Diamond Montgomery of Chicago, Ill., and many other relatives and friends. Kenneth) Stevenson, niece Miriam Smith of Hot Springs, Ark., Tell Rucker of Torrance, nephews Signey Logan Jr. of Los Angeles, and Roy Logan of New Orleans, great nephew Sidney Theron Logan of Los Angeles and sister-in-law Dianne D. Logan of Los Angeles. Also surviving him are grandchildren Sarah Francis Williams of Chicago, Kenneth Stevenson Jr. of Chiago and Patrick Stevenson of Atlanta, Ga., great-grandchildren D'Jaton Williams, Erica Turner, Kenneth Stevenson III, and Aaron Stevenson all of Chicago, great-great-granddaughter Diamond Montgomery of Chicago and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two previous wives Mary Johnson Logan and Mattie Logan, parents Archie and Maggie Logan, brother Sidney Logan Sr., sisters Francis Logan, Rosa Lee Logan Hammer and nephew John Rucker.
