Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JW.2ADE/8490 Message Board Post: Body Discovered In Red Rock Canyon Virgil Tabor of 1127 Saratoga St., Santa Clara, hunting with his daughter in Red Rock Canyon about a mile from Highway 6 last Monday morning came upon a locked 1959 Chevrolet convertible with an apparent dead man inside the vehicle. He called the Kern County Sheriffs office and Sgt. Curt Bell of the Ridgecrest station arrived to start the investigation. The body was identified as Alfred Bueno, 31, of 4120 West Century Blvd., Inglewood, after deputies cut through the roof of the convertible to remove the body. Identification was made by Lt. Ken Willis and Les Lewis of the Sheriff's Identification Bureau. Bueno, a former Los Angeles County deputy sheriff, was dead from a bullet wound in the right temple and a .38 caliber revolver was found at the feet of the victim, who was in the front seat of the new vehicle. The victim was estimated to have been dead for about a week according to Coroner Stan Newman, Deputy Coroner Dick Gervais and District Attorney Investigators John Werts and Bill Sprague. No note or apparent reason for the suicide had been discovered as we went to press. The body was removed to Turner Funeral Home in Mojave where arrangements are pending notification of relatives.
