Stanton, 64, passed away near Kramer last Sunday while on a picnic. He had been a resident of Tehachapi for the past 22 years and worked for the State of California, as a Correctional Officer at the prison near Tehachapi until his retirement a year ago. Mr. Stanton was born January 9, 1894 in Pinckneyville, Ill., but spent a great deal of his life in California. Survivors include his widow, Ruby; two brothers, Oscar and Craig both of Illinois; and a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Thieret of Ashton, Mississippi. Services will be held in St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Tehachapi on Thursday, April 24 at 1 :00 p.m. Graveside services will be held under the auspices of the American Legion with interment in Tehachapi Catholic Cemetery.
