She was 98. No services are planned. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, N.M. Ms. Schatz was born Sept. 5, 1906 in Shelbyville, Mo. She was at teacher at the Indian School in Albuquerque, N.M. for 35 years. She retired in 1967. She lived in Woodlawn Hills prior to moving to Ridgecrest in 1988. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and needlepoint. She is survived by a sister Edith Bachand of Ridgecrest, niece Freda Beth Humble and husband Lee of Ridgecrest, niece Ann Knight of Bakersfield, nephew Larry Schatz of Florida and numerous other nieces and nephews. A Gathering of Friends memorial service is planned for Wednesday June 29 at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church, 639 N. Norma St. Ellen was a longtime member. Ellen was born Sept. 5, 1906 in Shelbyville, Mo. After residing in Albuquerque, N.M. and Woodlawn Hills, Calif. she had made her home in Ridgecrest since 1988. Ellen was a teacher at the Indian School in Albuquerque. She retired in 1967 after teaching for 35 years. In addition she enjoyed sewing, embroidery and needlepoint. Ellen is survived by her sister Edith Bachand of Ridgecrest, niece Freda Beth Humble and husband Lee of Ridgecrest, niece Ann Knight of Bakersfield, nephew Larry Schatz of Forida and numejrous other nephews and nieces. The placeof interment was Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, N.M. Private cremation and arrangements were provided by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
