http://www.bakersfield.com/102/story/230091.html The above link is to a recent article in the Bakersfield Californian explaining that 'hometowns' are not determinable for a number of the Kern County Veterans whose names will be engraved upon the Kern County Veterans' Memorial. Although the article does not state it, the memorial is for those who died during the Wars. The original list of men was compiled from information obtained from NARA. Hometowns were not provided for Army personnel. We began to search for names in the Los Angeles Times and had some luck (turned out the names were not coming up in the searches, so we have been reading casualty lists for days). We have found hometowns for many of the men, but some are still unknown. I'm listing the 'unknowns' below. In reading the lists of casualties we found a number of men whose hometowns were listed as being in Kern County but the men's names were not on the official lists. So, if anyone has a family member listed below, please contact Ken at hooper93301@gmail.com and help him gather some information. If anyone has a family member from Kern County and you want to see if they are on the completed list (hometowns known) of Veterans whose names will be on the Memorial, please contact Ken or me and we can send. Thank you for any help. Karla Everett Bakersfield, California
