She was born on April 09, 1915 in Holden, Mass. to Joseph and Elizabeth (Holden) Coombs. Dottie, as she was known, settled in Monrovia,California, along with her family in 1923, where her father was a contractor and her mother a homemaker. Dottie graduated from Monrovia High School and later married William "Bill" Quiggle on April 16, 1937. They enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage. They made their home in Monrovia and later at Santa Anita Race Track, where Bill was the track manager. Dottie was active in several Monrovia groups, including PEO and the Monrovia Guild of Children's Hospital. After retirement, Dottie and Bill resided on the Riggs cattle ranch in the Wilcox area and hosted countless gatherings of friends and family. She was very active and served as president of the Wilcox chapter of Cowbells and a member of one of the local sororoties. Dottie moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. in 1994 to be closer to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Having been a frequent visitor to Lake Havasu in the early days of the 1960's, she had much to offer as a board member and Matriarch of the Lake Havasu City Historical Society. Always the hostess, her home was a central place for family and friends, most recently the wedding of one of her nephews. Dottie kept her youth through all her years by sharing and giving to others. Dottie is survived by her son, James (Linda) Quiggle; grandchildren, Dave (Ann) Quiggle and Jean (Gary) Oxley; great grandchildren, Andrew Oxley, Jenna Quiggle and Taylor Quiggle; niece, Diana Coombs McNaur; nephews, Jay (Gerry) Coombs and Jeffrey (Betty) Coombs; grand nieces, Nicole and Ivory Marinakis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Quiggle, her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Coombs and her brother, Joseph Coombs Jr. An open house celebration of Dotti's life will be held in her home at 2880 Arabian Drive, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on Saturday, July 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Lake Havasu Historical Society.
