    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sapp Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JW.2ADE/8433.1.1.1 Message Board Post: You siad: The soldier thought that Sam might have been in the Merchant Marine service or the Navy, my communcant did not know which. This would have been about 1917-18. My reply: Based on this story, I checked the World War I draft registration cards and found this one that I have attached. It seems to have the correct Sam Sapp with the right birthdate. He entered the service in Illinois. However, he gave his occupation as a well-driller. It's dated Sept. 12, 1918 . You said: This is the last reference to Sam except that "he must have died sometime after 1910 or at least he never contacted the family again and the family lost track of him.. I replied: I have also checked the World War I war dead on the American Battle Monuments Commission website http://www.abmc.gov/ but he's not listed there. Sharon Kern Co. Volunteer
