    1. [CAKERN] Jesse Dover and sons George & Henry: 1895
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: metaphor Surnames: Dover, Hagger, Winterhaller, Dooley, Shattuck, Tibbet, Thomas Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.kern/14588.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: gloliva1, It would be helpful to know where Jesse was enumerated in 1900. I imagine you mean somewhere in Kern county, since you are posting on this board--but that's not absolutely clear. Do you know where your ancestor James DOVER is buried? Have you checked with that cemetery to learn whether Jesse is buried nearby? Although it won't help you with death/burial information, I did find an 1895 news item, which may be for your relative. I've attached the image file to this message board post. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gloliva1 Surnames: Dover Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.kern/14588/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to find out what happened to Jesse Dover born June 1837 in TN. He is the brother of my ancestor James Madison Dover. The last time I find Jesse Dover on a Census is in 1900 when he is 62 years old and he is living with his brother James. I don't find him on the 1905 California death index so I assume he died between 1900 and 1905. Anyone have a source to look up deaths in Kern during this time period? I have the papers containing the death notices and obits for November 2006 and have gone thru them from the 3rd to the 10th and there is no mention of your cousin Nancy Cook. ------------ Well, I can answer part of my own question! I checked the SSDI and found that Nancy Louise Cook was born 30 Jan 1927 and died 03 Nov 2006. The SSA has proof of the death by having viewed a copy of the death certificate. I also see that the last known zip code was 93309 which is in Bakersfield, Kern Co. Her SS# was issued in Maryland. Apparently there was no death benefit paid out. Please remember that the SSDI does NOT give the place of death. ONLY the last known zip code. If she stopped contributing or did not draw any check from SS then she had no reason to update her address with the SSA. Sharon Kern Co. I had called her res. on Dec 10 when I had received a note at our home in WA that she had passed away. Karen was still at Nancy's home and she said that she would put my name on the Gallarno papers and pictures. We had been in AZ and had come back to WA for my husband's sister funeral. Nancy and I had written each other for many years and had talked many times on the phone about her grandfather and mine. I finally got to meet in 05 when we were able to visit her Bakersfield on our way to AZ and we were planning on visiting her again in Jan of 07. She had written me a letter and said that if any thing happen to her that she had made arrangements for me the have the Gallarno's paper and pictures. Below is an except from the notice in the paper. I have tried to call both Karen Burton and Nancy Evens but could find no listings. I just don't know where to go next! so any help you could give would be gratefully appreciated. Louise Dr. Nancy L. Cook 1927 - 2006 Dr. Nancy L. Cook, one of the early members of the Department of Nursing faculty at California State University, Bakersfield, died on November 3, 2006 following a short illness. Her tenure as a nursing educator in Kern County spanned the period from 1972 to 1992. She was Chairperson of the Department of Nursing from 1978 to 1992, which gave her the distinction of holding the position of chairperson of a department of nursing for the longest period of time within the California State University system. It was Dr. Cook's wish that all of the nurses, physicians, sitters, friends, and colleagues who cared for or visited her during her final illness be thanked for their kindness and good will. Of distinction in their loyalty to her during this time are Nancy Evans, the Executor of her estate and a friend, and Karen Burton, her housekeeper and friend. >************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at >http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CAKERN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > >
