    2. Here is the obit you requested, oh so long ago! So sorry to have taken so long...... 2004 Index Surname Given name Publication date Type of Entry Death Date Place of Death Cemetery Funeral Home Surname: WORLEY Given name: Charles Jack Publication date: 6/22/2004 type of entry: obituary Date of death: 6/18/2004 Place of death: Walnut Creek, Calif. Cemetery: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield Funeral Home: Hillcrest Mortuary, Bakersfield requested by: _dfj@xmission.com_ (mailto:dfj@xmission.com) The Bakersfield Californian Tuesday, June 22, 2004 Funerals Charley Jack Worley Services: Sat., June 26, 10 a.m. On June 18, 2004 Charles "Jack" Worley passed away peacefully at his Walnut Creed care facility where he had resided under excellent care for the last two years. Jack's loving daughter, Sharon, and family attended his bedside during his remaining days and know that he has gone to a better place after suffering from Parkinson's and his original stroke in early 2002. Born in Gentry, Missouri on September 23, 1923, Charles J. Worley attended public schools and was a graduate of Princeton High School, class of 1943. Jack Worley came from the farming community of Mercer County, Illinois before joining the Army in June of 1943. Like so many of this Greatest Generation, Jack rarely spoke of his military experience on the Pacific but was a true patriot. On March 6, 1943 (sic), Jack was honorable discharged as a member of the 475th Quartermaster Group and served at the 122nd Station Hospital in the New Hebrides Islands, New Caledonia and Okinawa. His awards included the American Theater/Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbons, Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals. After his military discharge, Jack helped to rebuild this wonderful country and traveled to California where he joined his mother, Ms. Hazel Boyd in Bakersfield and soon entered his marriage of nearly 57 years to Alice B. Cline. Jack spent his entire career of 36 years as a loyal employee of Standard/Chevron Oil and eventually transferred to the Richmond Refinery in February of 1970. Having retired in August of 1984 as a plant administrator, Jack continued to live in El Cerrito enjoying his long awaited retirement. Eventually he and Alice moved to Walnut Creek to be close to his family during his last years. Jack will be missed for his uncomplicated, selflessness, loving, and caring soul as he enhoyed the simple pleasures of family and smoking of his pipe. He is survived by his adoring wife, Alice B. Worley; daughter, Sharon Tye, son-in-law, Michael of Martinez; beloved granddaughter, "Katie" Tye of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Campbell, brother-on-law, Bill of Bakersfield; niece, Terry Romo, husband, Art of Anaheim, CA and their children, Patrick, Daniel and Victoria. A memorial service is scheduled to be held in Bakersfield on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., Hillcrest Cemetery. Author: C_Forquer Surnames: Sizelove, Lane, Lynn, Parker, Hayes Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.kern/14601/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, searching for anyone who might know something about Alvin P. Lane, born Sizelove. He was born 10/15/1908 to Joseph Matthias Sizelove and Ada Lynn (her stepfather was Marion Parker) in Los Angeles, CA. He died 9/25/1963 in Kern, CA. I am not related, but while I was researching the Lane family I connected Alvin to the Sizelove family. One of Alvin's nephews says he has been trying to find out what happened to Alvin. It seems Alvin didn't have much contact with the Sizelove family after his mother remarried. He also took on his stepfather's last name- Lane. Joseph and Ada were not married long and Ada remarried to Winfield Scott Lane (s/o Ira Davis Lane) in Whittier, Los Angeles, CA in 1914. Winfield died in 1920. Ada remarried again to William F. Hayes. Ava's sister died in Kern, CA also so I am guessing this is where Alvin lived for a good number years. Would appreciate any info/clues...thank you !!
