She sent me balloons in my birthday cards when I was little. Richard Leseney my father was her uncle and my grandfather Walter Leseney was her brother and Charles Leseney was thier father and Samuel Leseney was there Grandfather. Walter's wife Dorthy past away and I have some papers I will look through and try to post. I can't believe all the post since 2000. I was just notified of a recent post and was suprised to see the posts. My mom said that the original Leseney came from France but I don't know if my grandparents got any proof. I do remember on the match box cars growing up there was a name Lesenee or something close. Tom Bozack is Richard Leseney cousin. I don't know if that makes him my secound. When going through my grandmothers letters there was mention of someone writing a book about the Leseney's but I never saw it. Richard Leseney, Gertrude,s nephew is living Michigan and is in poor health. His brother Roger Leseney ,and sister Car! ol (Leseney)Bunker are still alive. Walter's step daughter Beverly Orlowski has past. Walter was married to Dorthy Siler. As of know John Leseney is carrying on the family name. His father is Roger Leseney. Richard had three girls. Charles Leseney lived down the road from Uncle Guy McCue on McCue Rd. in Holt Michigan. It may have been considered Diamondale a long time ago. The records are at the State of Michigan Library of who owned the land. I can't remember how Guy McCue is related to me right now. I do remember his beautiful farm house. I would like to know more about him because I think he must have been a nice man because a lot of my family lived in his house including my Uncle Roger Leseney. Author: metaphor Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.kern/14610.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Bakersfield Californian, The (CA) - January 21, 2004 Deceased Name: Myron Boyd McFarland Jr. Myron Boyd McFarland Jr., a prominent agriculture and wine grape businessman, died of colon cancer on Sunday. He was 80. McFarland was the grandson of J.B. McFarland, an enterprising landowner who had a Kern County city named after him. Remembered as a quiet man who generated respect, Myron McFarland grew up in the McFarland and Shafter areas. As an adult, he went into the agriculture business with his father and brother at M.B. McFarland & Sons, Inc. He served as the company's CEO for more than 40 years. In the 1970s, McFarland moved from McFarland to Monterey County where McFarland & Sons was growing wine grapes. He and his brother, Gerald McFarland, founded Monterey Vineyard Winery, which has changed owners several times since then. In the 1980s, McFarland focused on exporting Monterey County wines to Japan, where he visited several times. He enjoyed Japan and its culture, his son said, despite his history as a World War II veteran. McFarland fought in the Pacific Theater. He earned a Bronze Star medal and citations for meritorious service in ground combat operations against the enemy. After the war, Myron graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in forestry. It was at a college party in the Bay area that he met his wife, Dorie. They married in 1948. The couple had five children -- James, Donald, Douglas, Brian and Laurie Jackson. McFarland's family described him a gentleman who rarely raised his voice. "He was a real giant presence in the house," Douglas McFarland said. "He was the most quiet, humble man." Between his business travels, McFarland enjoyed spending his evenings at home in a chair with a novel and a pipe, he said. McFarland also loved fly fishing and traveled to Alaska, Canada and New Zealand to do so. In addition to his career, McFarland held a number of positions in Kern County civic life. He served on the North Kern Hospital District Board, McFarland Union School District and Lions Club of McFarland. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at Paul Mortuary in Pacific Grove. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 501 El Dorado in Monterey.
