I am the state contact for the CAGenExchange, and the mail list administrator. I have watched as our mail list has grown, and I am excited to see the number of folks joining our ranks. Please feel free to look through the entire site and, if you live in CA, or have access to information for CA, we could sure use your help. When you are researching a certain county and there is no coordinator, we would love to have you contact us with information from your local phone books or other sources available to you in your area. My commitment is that this GenExchange Project be one of the top projects on the web. It is entirely dedicated to free raw data and is here for you to use and explore. Living in any of the counties and having access to a local phone book, even for just one city, can make the difference in someone's research somewhere in the world. Please know that you can never be sure what you might contribute that might make a brick wall crumble for someone. It's amazing what a little generosity can do for others. We need the addresses of local cemeteries, funeral homes, libraries and archives (including university archives), museums, genealogical associations, historical associations and societies, churches in your communities, historians, courthouses, monuments and other historical sites, newspapers, schools, etc. If you would like to adopt a county for which you have access to records and raw data, I would be happy to send you the County Coordinators guidelines. If not, know that you can become an invaluable assistant to the project by entering information from your local phonebook or records you may have. Please help me help you in your research endeavors and let's join together to create an outstanding project for others to do their research. Homan was a passenger in a 1991 Honda being driven by Theresa Sanders, 22, also of Trona who suffered major injuries and was flown from the accident to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Sanders and Homan were thrown from the car when it spun and flipped after Sanders took a curve in the road too fast, hitting the shoulder. "She was going really fast," said Teri Pepper who saw the accident happen while she was driving to Trona. "She got off the road onto the right shoulder, then tried getting back on the road and overcorrected," Pepper said Homan "had a pulse and was breathing" when emergency medical technicians arrived but apparently went into cardiac arrest and couldn't be revived. Sanders was screaming in pain as emergency medical technicians placed her in a neck brace and onto a gurney. News Review newspaper Ridgecrest CA March 23, 2005 Front Page PASSENGER DIES IN TRONA ROAD ROLLOVER A single vehicle accident on Trona Road north of Lakeview Drive killed on person and sent the other to the hospital with major injuries on Thursday. The accident occurred when 22 year old Theresa Sanders of Trona approached a curve in Trona Road "at a high rate of speed" said California Highway Patrol. According to the official report Sanders lost control of the vehicle as she entered the curve, causing her '91 Mazda Protege to skid sideways off the road. It collided with a raised dirt berm on the shoulder launching the vehicle into the rollover. Sanders and her passenger 46 year old Robert Homan of Trona were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled into the desert. Homan and Sanders survived the initial impact. But Homan had suffered massive trauma and he died at the scene despite the efforts of rescuers. Sanders was also severely injured. A Mercy Air helicopter transported her to Arrowhead Regioanla Medial Center for treatment. As of yesterday she was listed in good condition. Although excessive speed appears to have played a role in the crase, the cause is still under investigation. Partr of the investigation is focusng on whether Sanders and Hunsacker whose seat belts were equipped with automatic shoulder restraints were wearing their lap belts at the time of the crash.
