Chenard of 719 "I" St. passed away in the Mojave Medical Center, Saturday, February 5. He had been confined for the past 10 days suffering from a heart attack. Mr. Chenard was born in Paris, France, February 5, 1895. When he was 1½ years old his parents, Joseph and Marie Chenard, moved to the United States and settled in the eastern part of the States. In 1917 he came to the West Coast and settled in Escondido, Calif., but two years later moved to Bakersfield where he' resided until making Mojave his home 26 years ago. Mr. Chenard had been employed by the Southern Pacific railroad for 37 years.. He was a member of Al Malaikah Temple, Kern Co. Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge No. 313 of Tehachapi since 1933, White Shrine of Bakersfield, Amaranth Court of Mojave; Eastern Star of Tehachapi and Brotherhood Maintenance of Way. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, at O'Donnell Funeral Home Chapel in Mojave with Masonic services. Worshipful Master Henry Bartholomew was in charge Chaplain was Judge William Woods prayer was offered by Earl Whitney. Active pallbearers were Max Carol, Bob Addudell, Henry Oswald, Rollo Carmichael, Jack Houck and Eldon Smitn. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Puckett, Paul Jones, Jack Papenberg, Stanley Richardson, and Charles Tomaier Survivors include his wife, Katherine Chenard, one son, Henri L., Jr., of Encino, Calif.,. one daughter, Vivian G. Chase of Mojave, three grandchildren in Mojave, Henri, Donna and Robert' Chase, three brothers, Felix of San Francisco, Michael of Los Angeles, and Gabriel of Bakersfield, one sister, Suzette Walton of El Monte, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews in Los Angeles area, Bakersfield and Chicago. Nelson of Edwards AFB received a report from Capt. Watson, Medical Officer of Edwards Hospital, that a woman residing at No. 14 Fifth Street, Wherry Housing, had apparently shot herself last Thursday June 17 at 10:5.0 p.m. Upon arriving at the residence occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Jack J C. Bushaw, the husband told Air Police Officers the following story. He said he and his wife had been entertaining friends earlier in the evening. When the friends left, he and his wife, Twila had watched television for a while then went to bed. Neither could sleep, however, and Mrs. Bushaw had got up and turned on the record player. He followed her into the front room and was dozing on the divan when he heard a shot. He rushed into the bedroom and found his wife had shot herself with a .22 pistol that had hung on the bedroom wall for about a year. . Mr., Neilson and Mr. Lockstorm and deputies Nelson and Barrett arrived 1:15 a.m. and after making an examination waited for Deputy Coroner Ross Jones until 4:05 a.m. The body was then removed by the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave where an inquest was held Monday, June21, with a verdict of suicide. She is survived by her husband, Jack, and two, children, Jackie Clinton, aged 6 and Kitty Regina, aged 4. The,body was taken to Inglewood for services and interment by O;Donnel1 ambulance. Air Force, was instantly. killed in a head-on collision June 30 at 11 :53 p.m. one block south of Rosamond on Highway 6. Hester met death when he was thrown from a car driven by Eugene Caldwell, 31, 6510th Medical Group, Edwards AFB, that ran into a car operated by Chester Otis Stevenson, 39, of Long Beach. Stevenson was accompanied by his wife, Margory and two children who were treated at Edwards AFB Hospital. Another passepger in the Caldwell vehicle was Timothy J. Sweeney, also an Edwards AFB serviceman. Both servicemen were taken to Mojave Hospital by O’Donnell ambulance for treatment. Investigation of the accident was made by California, Hwy. Patrol Officer Kenneth DeLaMarr. We were unable to learn what funeral arrangements were made for James Hester. Donald Briggs, 24, Edwards AF died Saturday July 3, from injuries he sustained in a roll-over acident on Hwy 466, four miles east of Mojave at 12:10 p,m. Thomas R Sick, 29, also of Edwards, a passenger, suffered major injuries and both men were taken to Mojave Hospital by O’Donnell ambulance. The body of Donald Briggs, whose home was in San Leandro, was shipped there for burial by the O’Donnell Funera1 Home. Beyer, 73, oldtimer of the Antelope Valley and the Rosamond area, passed away: Friday after a heart attack Dec. 17th, at his home four miles west of Rosamond and following a prolonged illness of about five years. Mr. Beyer; born in Ellesmere, England, in 1881, grew up in Liverpool, England, where as a boy the sight of California oranges fixed in his early mind a home in California. Not until he had spent nearly 15 years as a: mechanical engineer in nearly every corner of the globe; Central and South America, Australia, Canada, the Far East and the Carribean Islands to mention a few spots, did he finally get to California in 1916 with his English bride, Alice Thomasson, when he purchased west of Rosamond, a half section of land. He continued his work in foreign lands until 1928 when he moved to his new desert home. He soon realized that farming was different than engineering and in a short time he had established Antelope Valley's first manufacturing industry. From that time until a few years ago, his oil burners were shipped to many areas. He had previously established in Los Angeles a business manufacturing sugar refinery and mining machinery. His products were shipped to many areas and with his inventions in these fields he became well known in these industries. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Alice Zimmerman of Ontario, Calif., three sons, Mr. John Beyer of San Diego, Mr. Gordon Beyer, San Jose State College, and Mr. Edward Beyer of Rosamond, besides three granddaughters. Mr. Beyer was a member of Rock Lodge, No. 1289, F. & A. M. of Birkenhead, Cheshire, England; and was also a Royal Arch Mason: being a member of Egerton, Lodge No. 165 also of Birkenhead, England. . Services were held December 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mumaw Chapel of Lancaster with Dr. Tom Westwood of Glendale officiating. Last rites were performed with the Lancaster Masonic Lodge officiating at graveside in the Joshua Memorial Park, of Lancaster. Baccus officiated over the services which were in charge of O’Donnell’s Funeral Home and concluding services were held in Mojave cemetery. He was a retired electrician. He is survived by his wife, Salena, of Boron, three sons, Thomas of Mojave, David A., of O'Fallon, Mo., and Buford A. of Desota, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Clarston of Boron and Mrs. Edna Lavender of Elsinore, Mo. Death Suicide A coroner's investigation held Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave by Coroner Stan Newman, showed Mrs. Lena Mable Armstrong, 63, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Moore, across the Barstow Hwy., near what would be "K" St., if it extended that far. Mrs. Armstrong had been living here since November and had been ill much of the time believing she had a cancer although a medical report had not been received. She was found lying on the dining room floor by Mrs. Moore when she returned from a shopping trip. Lena Mable Armstrong was born December 20, 1891, in Mexico, Mo., and is survived by her daughter, Mrs, Everett Moore; two sisters, Lulu Edwards and Sue Lockridge of Mexico, Mo.; and three brothers, Charlie, Jess and Hollie Watts, all of Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the O'Donnell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Archer officiated and Rachel Hodges was soloist. Interment was in the Mojave cemetery. Mrs. Allersmeyer was born in Yuma, Arizona, February 22, 1923. Seven years ago she and her husband came to Mojave to make their home here. She was employed by the N. A. C. A. at Edwards Air Force Base until the time of her illness. She was an active member of the Community Congregational Church of Mojave and the Lady Lions Club. Funeral services, under the direction of the O'Donnell Funeral Home, were held at the Community Congregational Church on Monday, February 28 at 2 p.m.- Officiant was Rev. Dr. J. H. Baccus with Estelle Drake as soloist. Interment was at Yuma, Ariz., March 1. Survivors include her husband, Harold A. Allersmeyer; mother, Mrs. Ardina Olmstead; sisters, Dolly Gifford of Portersville, Shirley Rice of Tacoma, Wash., and Maxine Phipps of San Diego; brothers, Donald and Frank Olmstead of Los Angeles and Gerald Olmstead of Flagstaff, Ariz. I'm looking for an obit for a Julius Fried who died 9 October 1958 in Los Angeles. He was involved with the Lakeview Gusher in Kern County. I thought possibly his obit might be published in one of the Kern Co. papers. Ulrich Feb. 25, 1913 – April 20, 2005 Rosary was recited with Mass of the Christian Burial following on Saturday, April 23, for Catherine M. Ulrich, 92, who passed away on April 20 in Tehachapi. Ulrich was born on Feb. 25, 1913, in New York City, N.Y. to William and Agnes Brown. She moved to Tehachapi in 2004 to be near her son. Ulrich is survived by her son, George Ulrich and wife Jean of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Pamela Sweet, Steven Ulrich, Bruce Ulrich and Karla Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Steven, Cody, Jillian, Jesse, Mischa, Havannah, Rachel and Daniel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George F. Ulrich, in 2004. Father Joel Davadilla officiated at the service. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Hollywood Hills.
