Sylvano Bacquedano. Rosary was recited at 8:30 a,m., July 1st at O'Donnell’s Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Wegmann passed away June 30, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Meehl, after an illness of about eight months. Pallbearers were five grandsons, Patrick, Kevin, and Peter Wolff, Stephen Wegmann, John Meehl, and a nephew, Albert Irving, Jr, Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles. Mrs, Wegmann was born January 28, 1878 in Moss Point, Miss. In 1904, six years after her marrage to Englebert Wegmann, the couple with two small sons came to California seeking better health for Mr. Wegmann. They made their home on Soledad Mountain where Mr. Wegmann became engaged in the mining and milling business which he followed until his death in 1950: They had six children, four of whom survive them, Many friends and relatives mourn the loss of this gentle lady who was a charter member of St. Mary’s of the Desert Altar Society and always active in church circles, She ,is survived by two sons: Bert, Randsburg; William, Auburn Calif., and two daughters, Madge WoIff, San Diego, and Grace Meehl, Mojave, a brother, Albert Irving, Moss Point, Miss., and 15 grandchlldren. Charles Carol Warner, 45, was fatally wounded near his Piute Mt. Cave Tuesday, May 8, when he elected to shoot it out with Kern County Sheriff's deputies who were sent out to bring him in as an escapee from Camarillo State Hospital. He was the son of Dr. Warner now deceased, who was several years ago, the only doctor in this area and many of our local residents were brought into the world with his assistance. Charles had escaped, from the hospital four times before and deputies reported he had terrorized residents of the area by firing at them. According to information he had also threatened some of the older residents of Mojave several years ago. The squad in charge of Lt. Phil Munding was composed of deputies Ellis Byron, Guy Welch, Robert Dennis and Sgt. Gene Young who closed in on the escapee at a spring 200 yards from the cave home. He was shot when he fired on the officers with a .22 rifle, they reported. Ward, 63, a rancher, died early Wednesday morning, June 8, wherr he was overcome by smoke caused by a fire in his ranch home. Location was 4 miles west of Rosamond and ½ mile north of Willow Springs Road opposite Burton Bros. Mine. Mojave firemen' asnwered a call for assistance at 2:37 a.m. but the fire was handled by Tommy Loonils and 6 Rosamond volunteer firemen. Loomis stated that the dead man had been alone in the house at the time and had evidently tried to escape as the body was found near the back door, Robert Sear, a resident of Burton's Camp turned in the alarm when he drove by and noticed a fire in the house. The body was removed to the O'Donnell, Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are pending. Anker, went out of control and overturned pinning Thornburgh underneath. The driver, Carl Anker, told highway patrol officer Byram he lost control of the car on the wet pavement of Rosamond Blvd. near the Edwards Air Force Base. Both men were taken to Edwards Base hospital and the body of Thornburgh was later removed to O'Donnell's Funeral Home in Mojave who later shipped it to Birmingham, Alabama for funeral services. Services were held in the Chapel of the Chimes in Inglewood on Feb. 27th. Evangelist Philip L.. Knox officiated at the service. Funeral arrangements were made by the Mumaw Funeral Home in Lancaster. Mrs. Noble resided in Rosamond two years and was a frequent visitor to the area since 1908. She was an active member of Seventh Day Adventist Church which she served as pianist. sabbath school teacher and held other offices in the church also. She was married to Vern Roy Noble in 1903, who passed away in December of 1927. Survivors include: mother Mrs. H. I. Stuckey of Rosamond, a daughter, Mrs. Dave Schmidt of Glendale Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Audrey Glatt. of Rosamond,. two brothers Fred Stuckey of Glendale, Calif. and Ralph Stuckey of Rosamond, a half-brother George Stuckey of Florida and a grandson and grand daughter of Arizona. According to the grief stricken son he and his mother had been on a desert trip and stopped for some target practice. She had been using a .22 rifle while he was shooting a .22 automatic. He asked his mother if she would like to trade guns and as he started to hand her the automatic he accidentally squeezed the trigger and the bullet struck her in the head. The youth said he attempted to flag down passing cars without success and finally went to the nearest house to telephone for help. O'Donnell ambulance brought the woman to Mojave Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Deputies F. R. Nelson and John Barrett investigated and an inquest was held Monday afternoon at the funeral home. Mr. Spencer was a very old timer in the Rosamond area and resided on the Willow Springs Road three miles west of that city. He was born September 10, 1885 in Atchison, Kansas and came west to California where he spent a large part of his allotted life span. Survivors are his wife, Fannie E. of Rosamond, three sons, Herbert of Dayton, Ohio, Kenneth and Laurence both of Los Angeles. Four daughters, Iola Chanslor, San Francisco, Lorraine Davis, Los Angeles, Juanita Meeks, Bakersfield, Jean Spencer of Rosamond. A. A. S. last Thursday, May 5, a little after 5 p.m. caused by the crash of an F-9-F fighter plane. Instantly killed was First Lieutenant Robert A. Shepherd, Jr, who was taking the ship off for a routine training flight. Lt. Shepherd, 23, had been assigned to the Mojave Base just two weeks ago. Marine authorities at El Toro Marine Base in releasing the crash information said Lt. Shepherd was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JW.2ADE/8040 Message Board Post: Family Of 3 Burn to Death In Accident Three members of a Santa Clara family were killed 4 miles east of Mojave last Monday morning on Hwy. 466 when their car possibly hit the shoulder of the road, buckling the front wheel and rolling end over end. James Curtis Seabury, his wife Minnie and Karen Sue, 2, daughter were, the victims who were burned almost beyond recognition when the car caught fire after the accident. James O. Van Meter, California Highway Patrol and Sgt. Dave King of the sheriff's office investigated and said identification was made only through the car's registration since papers found on one of the bodies had two different spellings of the name. The car was heading west on Hwy. 466 when the tragedy occurred. Marks showed the car had skidded for at least one hundred feet before turning over and coming to rest on the east lane of the highway blocking traffic for more than one hour. A passing motorist notified the authorities which in turn alerted an ambulance from the O'Donnell Funeral Home as well as fire fighting equipment. Kern County Coroner office is investigating and this is being held up pending the arrival of Mr. Seabury's mother from Alabama and Mrs. Seabury's mother from Oklahoma City. She and her husband made their home at Thundering Herd Ranch near Boron for the past two years. Born in Bohemia, December 8th 1868, Mrs. Schultz is survived by husband, Frank E Schultz, .a daughter, Mamie Radisill of Hampton, Iowa, two sons, Frank J. of Boron and Charlie T. of Pasadena; sisters Elizabeth Knott of Mitchell, S.D., and Catherine Hinkley of Salem, S.D. and Libby Yarosk of Kimble, S.D. Rosary service was held at the O'Donnell Chapel in Mojave May 13th with Father Joseph Eberhardt of the St. Joseph Church in Boron officiating. The body was forwarded to EI Dora Iowa for interment Monday. Andrle and Creps Mortuary were in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to the St. Joseph Church in Boron in memory of the deceased. Savage Dies In Plane Crash Staff Sgt.W. R. Savage, assigned to the 6516th Flight Line Maintenance Sqd. (Jet) Edwards Air Force Base and a resident of Mojave, was killed Sunday March 25 in a crash of an XB 51 at Bigg's Air Force Base, EI Paso, Texas. Pilot of the plane which was being ferried to Eglin AFB Florida, Major James O. Rudolph, was seriously injured and is now undergoing treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. His wife, Clara, was flown to his bedside by special flight from Edwards A.F.B. S/Sgt Savage was a veteran of 10 years military service and is formerly from Dawnsville, Ga. He is survived by his widow, Ida, and three children, Ida, Ruth and Jerry Lee. They formerly lived at 625 K Street, Mojave. Funeral arrangements are pending. Major Rudolph is a veteran of 50 World War ITI combat missions and is currently assigned to the bomber operations branch AFFTC Edwards,. Calif. He is a graduate of USAF Flight Test Pilot's School The two men had just taken off from Biggs AFB and immediately after becoming airborne, the plane dropped to the ground, struck a railroad track, exploded and burned. Surnames: Barnes Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JW.2ADE/8037 Message Board Post: Tragic Plane Crash Takes Two Lives Loren Reebe, 40, 12542 Miranda, North Hollywood, a veteran pilot, and Ross Durham, 12, a stepson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barnes, were killed in an airplane crash on Sunday, January 1 at 6:40 p.m. The tragic accident occurred when Reebe, pilot of the plane, was attempting a landing at the Barnes airfield, four miles west of Rosamond off the Willow Springs Road. The party of four, including another stepson, Lemoyne, and Mrs. Bill Barnes were returning home after a trip to Las Vegas. Bill Barnes, waiting at the airfield for his family watched helplessly as the plane came in to land as darkness set in. Lacking regular landing lights, Barnes turned on several auto headlights. The plane missed the field on the first attempt and when it came in again it struck a power pole which caused it to cartwheel into the ground and burst into flame. Fire equipment from Rosamond and Mojave under the direction of Bat. Chief Tom Dickerson, assisted by volunteers put out the fire. The crash also put out the lights in Rosamond for 30 minutes. Gladys and Lemoyne were rescued from the wreck and although the pilot was thrown clear, he died later at a hospital. The accident was investigated by Deputy Sheriffs F. R. (Danny) Perez, was instantly killed and Vern Howard, his passenger, was seriously injured in a head-on collision 3½ miles north of Rosamond at midnight Sunday, July 31 on Hwy. 6. Also fatally injured was Jerome Ira Scherr of Los Angeles, driver of the other car. He died in Mojave hospital three hours after the midnight crash. A woman passenger in the Scherr vehicle, Pat Glass, suffered minor injuries which were treated after which she was released. They were returning from Bishop after taking her brother to a summer camp. Perez and Howard were returning home from an ocean fishing trip in the Perez car, and one of the few witnesses to the accident said he saw a flash when the cars came together, but no blame for the accident has been set as yet Vern Howard, Manager of the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave, is presently resting in Mojave hospital holding his own according to information released. The body of Scherr was shipped to Lewes Funeral Home in Baltimore, Md., for funeral services by the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave. 04 Aug 1955 Services Held for Danny Perez Rosary was said for Daniel Esperoin Perez, on Wednesday, Aug. 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in the O'Donnell Funeral Home Chapel. Danny, as he was known by a host of friends, was born December 14, 1928 in Mojave, where he spent most of his life. At the time of his death, he was employed as a baggage clerk by the S.P. Railroad. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Perez, who also reside in Mojave. Danny was a crack athlete and excelled in swimming and baseball, being a lifeguard at the local pool and a member of the baseball team, a volunteer fireman, and the order of Eagles. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and relatives. Survivors are his wife Donna, and two sons, Danny, 3 1/2 and Rudy, 15 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Perez; three sisters, Antonio Sawyer; Delores Edebrock, Fresno; Connie Perez, Mojave; and two brothers, John of Mojave and Allan of Oakland. Menees, 34, of Bakersfield, was found by his companions Saturday morning 24 miles west of Mojave. He and H. .R. McGuffin, Floyd Horne of Bakersfield and Wayman Neufield of Rosdale had been hunting wild horses and separated with the intention of meeting Friday at 6:00 p.m. according to a sheriffs report. When Mr. Menees didn’t show, his three buddies started a search and found the body which had apparently been dragged by his horse over rocky ground. A party from Mojave including the O'Donnell ambulance and officers from the Mojave Sheriff's substation, made the trip to recover the body. Menees is survived by his widow, two sons, a daughter, his parents, residents of Wasco and three brothers. Funeral services were held on Wed., Sept. 21, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with interment there. F. Clegg, personnel director of the P.C.B. Dr, George Faulkner declared the man had been dead approximately 24 hours and had died from natural causes McVeigh has been in the care of Dr. Faulkner prior to his death. He was born June 3, 1892 in San Diego and has been a resident in Boron at different times for the past 30 years. Survivors include: Mother, Mrs. Teresa M. Chick of National City, Calif.: two sisters, Myrtle St. Oegger of Los Angeles and Olive Butler of San Diego and a brother, Robert E. McVeigh of National City. Tentative arrangements have been made for services to be held in the Borax Mine Hall followed by cremation at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of O'Donnell's Funeral Home, Mojave. She was born November 5 in Redlands, Calif. and was very active in community affairs. Mrs. Mathisen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post No. 221, a member of the Community Congregational Church and a Gold Star Mother of World War II. She is survived by one son, Edward K. Mathisen of Phoenix, Arizona. Three daughters, Louise Smith and Charlotte Mathisen of Tehachapi; Emilie Toetperwine of Boerne, Texas and five granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Cong. Church in Tehachapi under the direction of O'Donnell Funeral Home. Rev.
