She died suddenly and in her own home which she shared with her loving husband of 61 years. She was 81. Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday May 10 at Holland & Lyons Chapel. A reception will follow at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ship 4084, 117 Alvord St. Geraldine was born to William and Hannah Robbs on March 28, 1924 in Skieston, Miss. She traveled as a small girl out West with her extended family in a two-car caravan. All the children in one car driven by Geraline's 14 year old cousin. The Robbs family settled in Pasadena, where Geraldine later fell in love with her brother's best friend, Robert Kinstle. Geraldine and Robert married in 1943. The young couple came to the Indian Wells Valley for a weekend visit with her parents in November of 1945 and never left. The couple made an indelible mark on the valley through their dedication to the founding of the VFW Ship 4084. Geraldine was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary for 59 years, hosting countless corned beef dinners, and turning heads on the parade route in her color guard uniform. Her dedication and generosity with which she gave of her time will be sorely missed. Geraldine's greatest labor of love, however, was her family. Her hand of support for her immediate and extended family was ever present and always unconditional. Her love manifested in mid-day tuna sandwiches for her son, Girl Scout cookie chairmanship for her little girl, three cherry pies a week for her grandson all through high school, hosting a wedding for her granddaughter and fresh laundry for her 86 year old brother. Geraldine was preceded in death by her sister Jestine Westbrook of Clovis, N.M., and brother J.W. "Dogie" Robbs of Ridgecrest. She is survived by her husband Robert Kinstle, sister Juanita Caprula, brothers Joel, Williams and C.D. "Bogie" Robbs, son Robert Kinstle Jr., daughter Karen Walp, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Media information provied by the family. He also was a rancher, a store owner and a night watchman. He retired in 1984. He enjoyed playing pool at the Senior Citizens Center and played very well. He was preceded in death by his son Richard Hopson. He is survived by his son Willie J. Hopson of Madill, Okla, daughter Wanda Billings of Ridgecrest, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. She resided in Ridgecrest since 2002 and was a previous resident of Bakersfield. She was an Evangelizer of Jehovah and was very active in the Ministry for Jehovah. She is survived by her husband of four months Stephen P. He was 57. A rosary was said for him at the Holland & Lyons Chapel on Thursday, April 7, and a beautiful memorial service on Friday April 8, in which the US Navy played "Taps." Mr. Hamarty was born Aug. 4, 1947 in Boston, Mass. He moved to Westwood, Mass. with Aunt Helen Kalil and family where he graduated from Westwood High School. He spent many fun summers and weekends in Atkinson, N.H. on Big Island Pond. He joined the US Navy in 1967 and was stationed at the China Lake Naval Base. He started working for the government in 1980 where he became project manager to the "Sidewinder Project." His family says this about him: "John, Dad, Grandpa John, he was loved by all who knew him. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was with honesty and sincerity. Anyone having the privilege to know him could see the care in his eyes and the love in his heart. John's relaxation was fast pitch softball. He created, coached and pitched for his team, the Gamecocks. He led them to two national championships during his 25 year legacy. The friendships he formed during that time will last forever which was evident by the show of support from friends and family after his passing. "He loved sitting at home, watching the Red Sox, Celtics and the Cowboys. although nothing compared to the time he spent with his grandchildren. The sun rose and set with them. Whether he drove 3 hours or 3 blocks to see Anthony play T-ball, he would do anything for them. We will always miss you and never forget the great times we had. We love you very much." He was preceded in death by his grandmother Wadea Tawa, father Eugene Hamaty and mother Margie Tawa, stepmother Ann Hamaty, uncle Larry Zannino, aunt Mary Tawa-Gallozzi and uncle Eddie Gallozzi and uncle George Kalil Sr. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Maria Hamaty, daughter and son-in-law Gina and Jay Skaggs of Hanford, daughter Michelle Lehman of Huntington Beach, son and daughter-in-law David and Chrissy Lara of Ridgecrest, son and daughter-in-law Any and Michel Lara of Ridgecrest, grandchildren Cody, Anthony, Vidtor, and Mackenzie, sister and brother-in-law Stephanie Hamaty-Fischer of Lee, N.H., aunt Helen and cousins Terry, Jared, Georgie, Jordan, Barbara, Tony, Bobby, Mackenzie and Stuart Kalil of Atkinson, N.H., aunt Izzy and cousins Karen, Lorraine, Janie, Joey, Illario, Giavanna, Isabella and Santino Zannino of Swampscott, Mass., cousins Frankie, Estelle and Lauren Gallozzi of Norfolk, Mass., and many cousins and extended family. Al also served as president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen for this area in 1956. He is survived by his wife, Grace and two daughters, Hazel C. According to reliable information, the unfortunate man was using a shovel which became caught in a conveyor belt and was attempting, to free it when he was dragged into the material and apparently suffocated. He was born in Los Corrales, Mexico, and is survived by 3 brothers; Miguel and' Camilo of Mexico and Romealdo of Boron; also 4 sisters. Rosary' will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, 8:00 p.m. in the O'Donnell Funeral Chapel by Father Eggert. Garcia, 53, an employee of Monolith Portland Cement Co. was fatally injured Friday, Feb. 1, when he attemped to oil a pulley on the third floor of B Mill. It is thought he was pulled into the machinery accidentally. When fellow workers found him, his arm was practically torn off. The injured man was rushed to the Tehachapi Hospital where he died at 7:20 a.m. A resident of Tehachapi since 1954, he and his family resided at 128 East "I" Street and survivors include his wife Agustina and son, Jose; also several brothers and sisters. Rosary was held Wednesday evening at 8:00 o’clock in St. Malachy's Church in Tehachapi. Mass will be said Thursday, Feb. 6 with Father Eggert officiating. Interment will be in Tehachapi Cemetery. Fousek, 73, were held last Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the O’Donnell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. William Henry of the 7th Day Adventist Church conducted the services. Interment was in the Mojave District Cemetery: Mrs . Fousek died Feb. 7 at her home Northwest of Rosamond and had been a resident of the desert for the past 30 years, although she was born May 29, 1884 in Kansas. Well known by many Mojave residents, Mrs. Fousek was well loved. Singing at her funeral service was Mojave librarian, Rachel Hodges. Survivors include her husband Wm. Fusek (sic), two brothers, John Macbeth of Los Angeles and Oran Macbeth of Kansas and two grandchildren of Rosamond. DeShazo, 69, passed away at Sawtelle Hospital on Jan. 9, after suffering a stroke and heart attack nine days earlier in his Lancaster home. He was born in Harrison, Ark., on April 28, 1888, but came west many years ago. He and his wife were married 37 years and originally came to Mojave in 1916. They stayed here for 25 years and were active in mining the majority of this period. Moving from Mojave in 1933, to a home in Los Angeles, the DeShazos were regular weekend visitors to the desert and land owners as well, owning. 1500 acres located 5 miles east and 3 miles south of Hwy 466. They had only recently sold their home in Lancaster and purchased a new one at 659 W. Ave. Lancaster. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 23, 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Ms. Paxton was born Jan. 26, 1920 in Ayshire, Scotland. She met her former husband Robert Paxton in Scotland when he was serving there in the US military. They moved to Ridgecrest in 1946. She traveled back to Scotland a couple of times during her life. She was a member of the British Club of Ridgecrest, had a good sense of humor and a vivacious personality. She loved her family and grandchildren and took care of her son Peter. Ms. Paxton was preceded in death by her brothers Willy and Peter McBride. He was 73. Memorial services will be held at the Trona Elks Lodge #1975 Saturday, April 30 at 11 am. Mr. Pedigo was born May 1, 1931 in Chesapeke, Mo. to Bertha and Hobert Pedigo. He served in the US Army from 1947 to 1950. After working on the railroad in Michigan for six years he moved to the Los Angeles area. He retired after 30 years with the California ippe trades. He moved to Trona in 1976. His family says this about him: "Russell was an avid fisherman and loved to gamble, these things coming in second to being with his grandchildren. He spent his last years serving and taking care of the old people's needs in the neighborhood." He was preceded in death by one son Ron Chance. He was 66. A funeral service will be held Saturday April 30 at 11 am at Holland & Lyons Chapel. The American Legion Post 684 will be officiating. Military rites will be given by the US Navy Honor Guard, China Lake. Private burial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery. Mr. New was born to Ruth and Jesse New July 11, 1938 in South Carolina. He graduated from Mission Bay High School where he was the coach and manager of the football team. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1956. He had a very distinguished career in aviation ordnance, retiring with the rank of commander in 1991. Mr. New was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Paula. MC ARTOR 1923-2005 Longtime Ridgecrest resident Robert "Bob" M. McArtor passed away Monday April 25, 2005 at Ridgecrest Healthcare. He was 81. Visitation will be at Holland & Lyons Chapel Wednesday April 27 from 5 to 7 pm. A rosary will be said at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday April 28 at 9 am at St. Ann Catholic Church. Private burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello. Mr. McArtor was born Nov. 2, 1923 in Crooksville, Ohio to Samuel Tilden and Nancy Stein McArtor. His family moved to Columbus, Ohio when he was 8 years old. He attened Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Bexley High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the Army. He was assigned to the 348th Quartermaster Corps and went onto the Normandy Beaches on D-3. He served in the European Theater of War for three years and was awarded five battle stars. Upon his return home he spent one quarter at Ohio State University then went to work at the Columbus General Depot. In 1948 he met his wife Marie Chapman and the couple married April 30, 1949 in Warren, Ohio. He entered a local watchmaker's school and graudated 18 months later. Their eldest son Robert Paul was born in 1950 and second son Michael in 1951. In December 1951 the family relocated to California joining Marie's parents who had moved there earlier in the year. He worked for Consolidated Engineering for approximately a year before being hired at NOTS, China Lake in 1952. Two more sons were born to them, Stephen in 1955 and Jonathan in 1957. In 1959 Mr. McArtor was accepted into the Apprentice Training Program and graduated in 1961 with an Associate of Science degree in electronics. He was selected Apprentice of the Year at the end of his first year in the program. He retired in 1980 as an electronic technician. From 1974 until 1984 the McArtor's operated a small vending company spread over a 1,200 mile route. They serviced it on weekends doing a different portion each week. He was deeply interested in genealogy and spent may hours searching for family records. He and marie traveled over much of the US meeting near and distant relatives in their search for family information. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Scott. He is survived by his wife Marie, son Robert Paul of Sparks, Nev., son Stephen of Ridgecrest, son Jonathan and wife Denise of Ridgecrest, grandson Nathan of Ridgecrest, granddaughter Stefanie and husband Justin Taylor of Lebanon, Ore., grandson Michael Fuller of Ridgecrest, great-granddaughter Brooklyn Cheyenne of Lebanon, Ore. and many, many friends all of whom appreciated him even through he was cantankerous at times. She was 94. A rosary will be said Thursday April 28 at 6 pm at Holland & Lyons Chapel. Visitation will follow until 8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Friday April 29 at 10 am at St. Ann Church. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park. Mrs. Hosmer was born in New Brunswick, Canada in 1910. She contracted a form of polio during her infancy which left her with a deformed hip and a limp. At the age of 15 she and some member of her family moved to Lynn, Mass. She went to work in a box factory for about a year then took a job in a shoe factory in Lynn, which lasted for 28 years. She then decided to attend a secretarial course and upon graduating worked at an auto parts store for two years. She then took a civil service exam. They had a job posted for the China Lake Naval Research Station in California. She traveled there was hired and lived in a dormitory on the base. Her future husband Philip Hosmer also worked and lived on the base. They were married in 1963 and continued to live on the base. When they both retired they purchased a home in Ridgecrest, a city next to the Naval Station. Their favorite pastime ws taking trips to Las Vegas, Nev. After Phil passed awy she decided to travel more extensively visiting such places as Hawaii, Australia and Alaska. In the past couple of years, her legs gave her so much trouble that she was admitted to an assisted living facilty in Bakersfield. He was 49. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 5 pm at the Cafe Potpourri at the Carriage Inn, 901 N. China Lake Blvd. Mr. Rowe was born May 7, 1955 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served in the US Air Force in Vietnam. He played multiple musical instruments, did a little acting, computer programming and was an airplane mechanic in the military. He spent most of his life in the medial field and retired as a lab technician from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. He had lived in Ridgecrest for six years. He is survived by his wife Stephanie McLemore of Ridgecrest, son Alexander Rowe of Ridgecrest, daughter Danielle Williams of Texas, brother James Rowe of West Virginia, Franklin Rowe of New York, Richard Rowe of California and Marvin Rowe of California, sister Brenda Rowe of South Carolina, grandson Dorian Williams of Texas and numerouse nieces and nephews.
